Kasa’s capacity building program and strengthening activities
Kasa
provides support to civil society and media organizations to advocate,
in a concerted effort, for equitable access, accountability, and transparency
in natural resource and environmental governance. Kasa builds on and
strengthens existing coalitions and experiences in an atmosphere of
open exchange and collaboration.
The Natural Resource and Environmental Governance(NREG) sector budget
supports reform efforts by Government of Ghana (GoG) in three key Natural Resources and Environment (NRE) sectors—forestry and wildlife, mining,
and environmental protection—for sustainable growth and development.
Kasa’s capacity building program is designed to;
* Support and coordinate civil society learning initiatives and; * Provide opportunities to enhance the institutional, organizational and individuals’ capacities for effective advocacy for improved governance in the natural resource and environment sector in Ghana
Capacity strengthening activities are based on needs of civil society organizations in the natural resource and environment sector, identified and assessed by Kasa programme management team. The capacity building activities includes training workshops to address needs of civil society organizations, combined with one-on-one support at the individual coalitions and organizations level. Training and support is being provided in areas including:
* Natural resource and environmental governance and related contemporary issues * Evidence-based advocacy and social accountability on natural resource and environment issues * Media engagement * Civil society organizational governance and institutional development issues * Gender mainstreaming , and * Monitoring and evaluation
