Mrs. Hannah Owusu-Koranteng
Mrs. Hannah Koranteng Owusu has served as the Chairperson of Kasa Inititative Ghana from 2014 to 2019.
She has garnered several years of experience and expertise in the fields of Rural work and the informal sector, Gender issues, Community Mobilisation and Activism in areas of Human Rights, Environment, Research and training skills using Participatory techniques. She is currently working with Wacam, an Environmental and Human Rights NGO as the Associate Executive Director.
She holds a Professional Executive Masters in Alternative Dispute Resolution and M.A. in Environmental Management and Policy. She also serves as the Focal Person on Climate Change for Trades Union Congress of Ghana, a Member of the Steering Committee of Ghana Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative (GHEITI).
Mrs. Owusu Koranteng has won several awards including“Right the Wrong” International Award 2015 by Oxfam America for promoting the leadership of women in communities affected by mining in Ghana, mentoring new female leaders and being a voice for the marginalised. She was also conferred with “Safeguarding the Environment Award by the Ghana Institute of Journalism.
She has written and published numerous articles and studies including,Sample Minerals and Mining Bill, Baseline Studies on Economic Impacts of Iron Ore Exploration in Sheini, The right to decide: Free Prior and Informed Consent in Ghana among others.
