Kyei Kwadwo Yamoah
Mr. Kwadwo Kyei Yamoah has over 15 years working experience in Fisheries, Environment and Natural Resources Management. He is a Member of the CSOs platform on the SDGs, he is also the Convener of the CSO Sub-Platform for SDG goal 14 (life under water) and has mobilized and worked with many partners towards achieving the objectives of the SDG goal 14.
Mr. Kyei has experience in project design, conceptualization, strategic planning, communication and project implementation. Kyei holds an MSc in Environmental Resources Management from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
He is a member of the Scientific Technical Working Group (STWG), a group of fisheries experts providing technical and scientific support including conducting periodic fish stock assessments with recommendations to provide science-based information for sustainable fisheries management in Ghana.
Mr. Kyei is also the convener of the Fisheries Alliance platform, formed in 2009 with over 170 members and actively contributing to sustainable fisheries management and governance in Ghana. He is the technical advisor for the Ghana National Canoe Council, W/R and he provides technical support to enhance fisher folks’ participation in fisheries governance.
Mr. Kyei also provides consultancy services for clients including; Oil companies, Fisheries Associations and Development Partners. He conducted the independent audit of Ghana’s industrial and semi-industrial fishing fleets in 2016 for the World Bank under for the West Africa Regional Fisheries Programme (WARFP).
Since 2006, Kyei has been actively involved in the management and execution of many fisheries projects in Ghana including:
• USAID/Ghana funded Integrated Fisheries Governance Initiative (ICFG) (2009-2014)
• USAID/Ghana funded Sustainable Fisheries Management Project (SFMP) (2015-2019)
• EU funded, Far Ban Bo (Protecting Fisheries Livelihoods) Project (2017- 2020).
Mr. Kyei is the lead trainer for fisheries enforcement training of over 200 Marine Police Personnel since 2012 to date. He is also a leading facilitator for Competence-based capacity development programme for fisheries enforcement personnel in Ghana.
Mr. Kyei is the Programme Manager for Friends of the Nation (FoN), a Ghanaian socio-environmental NGO working in Ghana that is promoting sustainable fisheries and environmental management based in the Western Region of Ghana.
